We’re thrilled to introduce Athena, the powerhouse Director of Operations at Shout About Us, a company revolutionizing the way businesses manage and respond to online reviews. Athena plays a vital role in keeping the company’s operations running smoothly while also steering product development and innovation alongside the tech team!
In our conversation, Athena shared a behind-the-scenes look at the exciting AI-driven project she’s leading, how she recharges after a busy day, and the meaningful friendships and experiences that ground and inspire her.
Kay: What is your current job/job title?
Athena: Director of Operations at Shout About Us
Kay: Can you share more about Shout About Us?
Athena: Shout About Us is a full service review management product. We help businesses collect more reviews, monitor and analyze their customer feedback, and respond to their reviews across all review sites. As the Director of Operations, I make sure all operations and processes are working smoothly while always trying to improve them where I can! I also oversee the product and work very closely with our development team.
Kay: What are you working on right now?
Athena: We are about to launch an exciting new report that I’ve been working with our development team on for a while. It’s an AI-driven Insights Report that will analyze our clients’ reviews across all review sites, uncovering key trends, sentiments, and actionable recommendations.
Kay: How do you like to unwind after a long day?
Athena: I like to unwind by doing something active, such as attending a Pilates class or taking a walk on the beach.
Kay: What do you do when you feel overwhelmed with work?
Athena: I am lucky to have my very good friend and fellow Pearl Worker, Megan, as my colleague, so I can always talk to her about how I’m feeling.
Kay: Why did you join The Pearl Works?
Athena: I’ve been working remotely for 5 years and needed a change!
Kay: What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Athena: I want to travel to each of the seven continents.
Kay: Do you have any special talents?
Athena: When I was little, I taught myself how to say the alphabet backwards.
Kay: Who inspires you in your life?
Athena: I have a group of girlfriends who all constantly inspire me in different ways! Whether it be through their friendship, career, medical school, motherhood, etc. I can always look to them for inspiration!
Kay: What is the best lesson you’ve learned?
Athena: I attended a holistic surf school in Costa Rica this year and learned that “while you can’t stop the waves, you can learn to surf them.”
Athena’s story is a reminder that leadership isn’t just about managing operations, it’s about staying grounded, staying curious, and surrounding yourself with people who inspire you. Whether she’s improving systems at Shout About Us, collaborating with her team, or chasing waves (literally and figuratively), Athena brings a balance of ambition and authenticity to everything she does.
