Why We're Changing Our Hours — and What It Took to Get Here

When we first opened The Pearl Works, our public hours were 9 to 6.
It seemed reasonable — modern professional hours, right?

What I didn’t realize then was how much I was holding.
I was unlocking the doors by 8:45am, the last to leave at night, and somewhere in between, trying to build a business and hold space for the community taking form.

I had convinced myself those hours were about work-life balance — that limiting access outside of them was in service to our members.
But in practice, I wasn’t living a balanced life.
And our systems weren’t yet able to carry what the community was asking for.

Since then, I’ve learned that balance isn’t about being home by a certain hour.
It’s about designing a rhythm — and a structure — that actually works.

It took burnout, hiring a team, and slowly recovering to see clearly: The structure needs to change.

As I stepped out of the role of daily operator and invited incredible humans to steward The Pearl Works alongside me, it became increasingly clear: Our 9–6 hours weren’t sustainable — not for me, and not for the team we’re cultivating.

This change in hours is about tuning into what’s next for The Pearl Works — and weaving sustainability into the very fabric of our operations.

Here’s what’s new:
📅 Public hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
🕰️ Team hours: 8:45 AM – 5:45 PM (with space for rest and breath)
🔐 After-hours access: Now available for those who need more flexibility

All-Access Passes can be added to any full-time membership for $50/month.
This provides 24/7 door access to the building — so you can work when it works for you.
